What makes us unique?

Shrimps are everywhere. In your nearest grocery store, local restaurant and perhaps even in the pet shop just around the corner. In this blog we’re talking about “shrimp for consumption”, available in forms; completely peeled and deveined, headless and whole shrimp, of which the latter 2 are great for a (winter) BBQ.

There are numerous suppliers in frozen shrimp on the market. So why did we decide to “launch” Luna Shrimp Farms and what makes us as a brand unique? What makes Luna Shrimp Farms stand out?

Besides the corporate idealism that exists in our company and in particular at founder and CEO Mr. Heiko Lenk, who wants to give back to society as well, there are 2 main reasons why Luna Shrimp Farms has been established:

  1. Bangladesh being the very first supplying country where Lenk Group* started to work with about 2 decades, Heiko Lenk has always seen the quality of Bangladeshi black tiger shrimp at the farm, and his hands were itching to improve the shrimps’ journey until it gets to your plate.
  2. Knowing that more and more end-consumers care about their health and want to assure that a product has been grown at a clean environment, we saw a niche and decided to establish our own brand, completely controlled and managed by Lenk Group staff.

What makes Luna Shrimp Farms in particular so unique?

  • The shrimps are farmed at a natural and clean environment without a single use of additives and medicines.
  • Where “usual” farms can be very crowded, the Luna Shrimp Farms’ shrimps have lots of space to swim around (maximum 2 shrimps per square meter) and there is enough plankton around for the shrimps to eat.
  • The shrimps are farmed by small “farmer families” who receive a fair price, and we all know by person and visit from time to time; we literally know where the product comes from.
  • We support the farmers and their families by help creating better living circumstances. To learn more about this, please read this blog.

Other than that, Luna Shrimp Farms is joining an improver programme that helps farmers improve their work which ends up in an even more responsible product.
