Years back our CEO Heiko Lenk visited West Bengal for the very first time. Apart from the excellent quality Black Tiger Shrimp he experienced, he had an immediate admiration for the small-scale farmers, working hard to gain a living for their families.

A greenish area, characterized by small dusty broken concrete roads where the small-scale farmers live far away from cities, even villages. In fact, they usually live along their farms.
They have difficulties to get in touch with global markets and sell their shrimps from one middleman to another, making it sometimes hard to get a living out of it. Farming is really their passion, and a family tradition. When dad has reached a certain age, son continues with farming and so does the next generation. They appreciate the beauty of nature and feel a great responsibility for their environment and people’s health. Since the size of the farms are small, they have much more eye for detail which benefits the quality of the shrimp.
